Conclusive Evidence Against Karma

For those of you that believe in karma, I challenge you to explain this (from time.com, full story available here):

Sex Offender Wins Lottery Jackpot

(LANSING, Mich.) — The winner of last week's $57 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot is a registered sex offender who also pleaded guilty to two breaking and entering charges in the 1980s.

  1. Yeah, I'm under the illusion that it is pretty random who wins the lottery.

That said, I think whether there is heavy traffic or not outside *completely* depends on karma. :)

  2. Joe, that was said like a true Californian.

Here in Colorado, if I believed in karma, I would say that whether or not the 5 minute afternoon thunderstorm happens while I'm walking home from campus or not *completely* depends on karma.

But of course, this story conclusively shows that karma doesn't exist.

  3. Money in itself is not a blessing, if it were wealthy people would be happier than us regular folk, yee haw!
Anyhow, you can't really guarantee that this winning will do anything to improve his life beyond giving him more possessions, thefore more stress.
He may even get more attention (negative, I presume) from people that before did not know that he was a sexual offender, therefore adding more discomfort and plight to his existence.
    Or not.

  4. You are just completely misunderstanding karma. Furthermore, just because he is a registered sex offender (what did he do exactly) doesnt mean he is necessarily a horrible person, much less completely horrible. He very well may be a very good, albeit flawed, person.
