Summer Conference Travels

You may have noticed that things have gotten a little quiet around here and while I can't say exactly what everyone else is doing, I can guess the it has something to do with the summer conference season (and possibly also babies in one or two instances). Since this really isn't a blog about babies, let's do a quick check of where everyone is headed this summer.  Post your dream summer vacation to Austin, Texas in August where you'll spend 14 hours a day in a dimly lit room watching poorly prepared PowerPoint presentations in the comments.

Note:  I have actually attended a conference in Austin, Texas in August.  I don't recommend it.

  1. I'm headed to Berkeley, California the last week of August for the Flux Emergence Workshop 2011 where at least we'll have a nice view while about 30 people try to figure out how the sun's magnetic field gets out of the sun.

  2. Also I'll be at the 4th Kepler Asteroseismic Science Consortium meeting here in Boulder, but since it's not a trip I'm not sure if that counts.

  3. It's true I've done a lot of traveling recently.  (Was just at Berkeley myself.)  Hopefully traveling will actually slow down for me for the next few months for me before it picks up again in the fall.  I now need to do a summer blitz to get some long overdue papers out the door.

  4. Right now I'm at Georgia Tech at a Cyber-Physical Systems conference. I flew here from SLC where I was visiting my folks. Fortunately, I think this is the end of my travels for the summer. Just got a paper out the door yesterday. The rest of summer consists of doing research and preparing for quals.

  5. Well I'm turning in my thesis, so no time to read blogs, travel, or do anything else other than wonder why was I so masochistic to want to create a dissertation and remind myself why I hated writing essays and chose physics-astronomy instead.  that and preparing a move to Germany in a month, 10 days after my defense.
